EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE = E2
Maestro William Noll has an amazing talent for identifying brilliant young musicians to perform at Classic Chamber Concerts. For example, the first concert last season featured the young pianist Nikolay Medvedev who was making his US debut. Later in the season, Nadir Khashimov, an extraordinary 25 year-old violinist, returned. Nadir had completely captivated the audience during the 2014 ArtsNaples World Festival (now StayInMay) with his playing of all 24 Paganini Caprices. These young musicians are very inspirational to students.
The 2016-17 season, Classic Chamber Concerts’ opening concert featured an outstanding performance by The Peliska Brothers, Joseph & Samuel. In February of 2017, brilliant clarinetist, Samuel Peliska visited a Collier County Public School to discuss technique with the woodwinds section of the orchestra (top left).
Not only does Maestro Noll give wonderful opportunities to young artists, he is committed to finding ways for the artists to share their talents with students. An example of such sharing was an event co-sponsored by Classic Chamber Concerts and StayInMay in May 2016. Nadir Khashimov, who appeared to great acclaim in the 2016 World Festival, spent the day at two different CCPS Middle Schools. He gave a brief performance that was followed by informal discussion and then met with some members of the orchestra for a master class (bottom left).
These recent successes in both 2015 & 2016 have resulted in Classic Chamber Concerts’ commitment to expanding the Educational Excellence program in 2017. A number of clinics in local Title I schools are being explored and we will also be making tickets available to students to attend concerts whenever possible.
Classic Chamber Receives Grant to Expand Music Clinics
Classic Chamber Concerts, in collaboration with ArtsNaples World Festival (now StayInMay) recently completed the Enhanced Music Clinic project for Title I Secondary School Music Programs. The project was funded by the Community Foundation of Collier County. The Title I school budgets do not have the funds to provide these sessions with professional musicians.
Over 500 music students from these schools participated in the music clinics conducted by artists brought to Naples by Classic Chamber Concerts and Stay in May.
The Excellence in Education Committee urges all Classic Chamber attendees to consider a gift to expand our education outreach program. You may contact our Administrative Director at 239.434.8505 in order to:
- Make a donation specifying that program;
- Contribute the cost of a series ticket to be reserved for students; or
- Turn in a ticket that you cannot use, requesting that it be used by a student.
Our goal is to inspire our students to go to even greater heights by being engaged in this unique manner.
